Ways to Give

Through the support from our community, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra has become the leading symphonic music organization in Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan.   We ask you to help make great things happen with your investment in the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, whether that be through Annual Fund Giving, Memorials Or Tributes, Corporate or Foundation Underwriting, or Planned Giving.

Ticket sales cover only one-third of the cost of concerts and the community engagement and education programs presented by the SBSO each year. The Annual Fund helps bridge the gap between ticket revenue and the costs of bringing high-quality music to the Michiana area.

Memorials & tributes are a meaningful way to honor a friend or family member, which grows through contributions of friends and family invited to build upon your contribution in lieu of flowers.

Dr. Hames was the founding Music Director and Conductor of the South Bend Symphony from 1932 until his retirement in 1972. The Edwyn H. Hames Society has been established to recognize and honor those who wish to follow his leadership by remembering the South Bend Symphony Orchestra Association and ensuring its artistic greatness in perpetuity. There are numerous ways to support the SBSO through planned giving, including Charitable Bequests in Your Will or Trust, Retirement Plans, Endowments, Charitable Lead Trusts, Charitable Remainder Trusts, and Life Insurance. Sponsoring a concert series, a single concert, an education outreach program, or underwriting an event is a great way to support the South Bend Symphony's artistic programming and production.  Sponsorship also includes promotional benefits, entertainment benefits (like complimentary premium seats and meet & greet opportunities with the conductor, guest artists, and musicians), along with discounted ticket prices for all your employees. (Learn More about Sponsorships)

This year because of the Covid-19 emergency, the federal government approved legislation called the CARES Act. This means that a charitable deduction is unlimited for your 2020 tax returns. If you don’t itemize, you can take up to a $300 deduction for cash gifts to public charities.
