Have the time of your life at the KeyBank Pops Series opener as the South Bend Symphony Orchestra pays tribute to the music of ABBA Friday, Oct. 30, at 8 p.m. at the Morris Performing Arts Center.
The South Bend Symphony Orchestra will be accompanied by Jeans ‘N Classics, the producers of last year’s successful “Music of Queen,” for this upbeat, disco-inspired concert. Many of ABBA’s most popular works, including Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia, a song which inspired a classic Broadway musical bearing the same name, will be performed.
Jeans ‘N Classics’ Stephanie Martin, Lis Soderberg, Katalin Kiss and Andrea Koziol are musicians dedicated to building and fostering an appreciation for orchestral music in the next generation.
World famous for their infectious lyrics and instantly-recognizable sound, ABBA’s music has remained popular since the band’s inception in 1972. ABBA, whose group album sales are second only to The Beatles, is widely regarded as the first band from a non-English speaking country to enjoy success in English-speaking nations. The group was active from 1972 – 1982, and comprised of Swedish musicians Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.
